FROM THE FACTORY: Wanted – Students and Teachers

Twin Commander University 2011_070Always learning—learning more about your aircraft, and learning more about yourself as a pilot and aircraft owner. “Always learning” is a pretty good prescription for enjoying safe, skilled flying. It’s also a good description of what we hope the Twin Commander University helps you achieve.

The 2015 University continues the tradition, established nearly three decades ago, of bringing owners and operators of turboprop- and piston powered Twin Commanders together with representatives from Twin Commander Aircraft, authorized Twin Commander service centers from around the world, SimCom Training Centers, and our other partner product and service providers for a long weekend of informative seminars and enjoyable socializing.

The primary objective of attending the University is to learn more about the aircraft we fly, maintain, and support. The University also is where we establish and renew the personal relationships that make the Twin Commander experience so special. Yes, the University is serious schooling, but it’s also an enjoyable family reunion.

Picture 074We’ve worked hard to design a curriculum for the University that combines the best from previous symposiums with exciting new topics. For example, we’ve invited Erik Eliel back to deliver his in-depth program on using airborne weather radar. We’ll also have SimCom, Garmin, and a panel of experienced Twin Commander pilots providing hands-on flying tips and techniques, as well as Lou Meiners on Business Flying and Taxes, Dr. Paul Buza on the insidious dangers of hypoxia, veteran Commander instructor Hugh Davis on flying tips and techniques, and, of course, Honeywell Pilot Advisor Helmuth Eggeling and his insightful TPE331 operating tips.

Flying our Twin Commanders safely, efficiently, and confidently are largely functions of education and experience. Training and practice serve as the foundation of building skills and acquiring judgment, and experience builds upon that foundation. So does continuing education—formal study to enhance existing skills. Continuing education is at the core of the University experience.

We learn something about each other at the conference as well. It is vital that we at Twin Commander Aircraft get together with you so that we better understand the needs of the end customer and maintain our focus on who and what we are working for. The biennial University is the ideal venue to do that.

Some lessons can be learned, others have to be lived. The Twin Commander University combines the best of each approach. It’s educational seminars, it’s learning from the examples and experiences of others, it’s face-to-face interaction between owners, operators, and the people who support you. It’s why it is called the University.
