FROM THE FACTORY: Twin Commanders Serve Operators Around The World

Twin Commander Aircraft’s network of authorized service centers has a worldwide presence for the simple reason that Twin Commanders are flying in countries around the world. Take Desert Air, profiled in this issue of Flight Levels. Desert Air operates five Twin Commanders in the eastern Africa nation of Namibia. Like the Cessna 210 the company began with nearly a decade ago, the Twin Commander is a workhorse aircraft for Desert Air, able to fulfill its need for charter and tourism flights.

The same attributes that attract pilots and passengers regardless of where they are located in the world—performance, comfort, reliability, visibility for passengers and crew, and ease of entry and exit—are the reasons Desert Air continues to acquire Twin Commanders. If you ever visit beautiful Namibia, be sure to look up Thys Rall and Desert Air. See www.desertair.com.na for more.

Speaking of a decade of service, Oklahoma City’s Legacy Aviation Services is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Congratulations to RJ Gomez, Kevin Chance, and their team for building an excellent business and upholding the highest standards for Twin Commander service and support.

Not to be outdone, Winner Aviation in Youngstown, Ohio, is marking its 20th year in business. Winner carries on a long and proud tradition of providing Twin Commander service at the airport. In fact, Ron Butler ran Winner’s Honeywell engine shop for more than 40 years! Ron retired recently—sort of. He still comes in to help out when needed. We profile Winner and its new president, Neil Gallagher, in this issue.

The NBAA Annual Convention is coming up in mid-November in Las Vegas, and this year Twin Commander Aircraft is doing something special. We’re hosting a reception on Monday, evening, November 16, at the House of Blues Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay Hotel, and we invite our Twin Commander owners and partners to join us for an evening at the top of the world.

Those of you who were at the Twin Commander University in Savannah last April heard Wayne Pliss, who pilots a Grand Renaissance Twin Commander for the San Bernardino, California, Sheriff’s Department, speak about the Heroes Wings Foundation, a group he helped found to provide air transportation to veterans in need. The Foundation is volunteering at the SBD Fest at San Bernardino International Airport on Saturday, October 17, and I’ll be lending a hand—both hands, actually. The Air Show and Country Music concert should be exciting and it all goes to a great cause. Please come out and visit with us.

Finally, Twin Commander’s parent organization, Firstmark Corp, was recently acquired by H-D Advanced Manufacturing. It is a real pleasure to be part of such a world-class organization. The folks at H-D bring extensive manufacturing experience and operational excellence to the table. Stay tuned as we work together to serve you even better.
