Colombian Renaissance Commanders
Get New Garmin GTN Avionics

Eagle Creek Aviation
Services, Inc., a
factory-authorized
Twin Commander
Service Center in
Indianapolis, is
installing new Garmin
GTN 750 and GTN 650
touchscreen avionics in
two Grand Renaissance
Twin Commanders
that Eagle Creek
is completing for
the Colombian
government.
The exciting new GTN
650 and GTN 750 were
announced earlier this year, and the Colombian
Grand Renaissance
installations will
be among the first
to be done.
Garmin’s GTN series
features new capabilities
for GPS/NAV/COM
systems including
touchscreen operation,
graphical flight planning
with victor airways and
high-altitude jet routes,
remote transponder
control, remote audio
control (750 series only),
SafeTaxi, and electronic
chart capabilities (750
series only). In addition
to the installation of the
GTN 750 and GTN 650,
each of the Colombian
aircraft will feature
Garmin-based panels
with dual Garmin G600
flight displays, Garmin
GMA 35 remote audio
processor, Garmin GTX
33 remote transponder,
and Garmin GWX 68
weather radar system.
The two Grand
Renaissance Twin
Commanders being
completed by Eagle
Creek—a model 980
and a model 1000—
will be operated by
the Colombian Army
Aviation Brigade
in multi-purpose
roles including
aerial surveillance
and VIP transport.
The project will
take about 11
months and more
than 14,000 manhours
to complete.
Eagle Creek plans
on delivering one
aircraft in August
2011 and the other
in the fourth
quarter of 2011.
“We are pleased
to partner with
Garmin in providing
this exciting new
technology to our
mutual clients,”
said Matt Hagans,
Eagle Creek’s CEO.
“The Garmin
GNS 530/430 were
game-changing
innovations for
our industry,
with something
like 110,000 units
produced so far. The
new touchscreen GTN
750/650 will be the
same. Watching the new
GTN units work their
magic, you can really
appreciate the great
new features, processor

speed enhancement,
and the improved
screen resolution.
Watching the Pan and
Zoom feature now is
unbelievable, and the
touchscreen design and
layout is so intuitive.”
Along with its
Indianapolis facility,
Eagle Creek owns and
operates Naples Jet
Center at the Naples,
Florida, Municipal
Airport, and American
Avionics based at
Boeing Field in Seattle,
Washington. The
new Garmin GTN
touchscreen avionics are
available for installation
at all three locations.
