Firstmark Aerospace Sold to Ontic

Twin Commander Aircraft parent company Firstmark Corporation is being acquired by BBA Aviation, which will place it with its Ontic division.

Ontic is dedicated to support of legacy aviation products. The company’s business model has been to license intellectual property and produce parts for legacy aircraft. The Firstmark acquisition marks the first time Ontic will own legacy manufacturers. Aside from Twin Commander Aircraft, Firstmark produces various aerospace parts including air bags, gear motors, and more.

Gareth Hall, President and Managing Director of Ontic, said “We are excited that we have reached an agreement to acquire Firstmark. The acquisition confirms Ontic’s commitment to support our customers, by adding manufacturing and MRO Service capabilities on the US East Coast. Firstmark is an ideal fit for Ontic with their high quality portfolio of products supporting civil and military aircrafts.”

“We are very excited about becoming a part of the Ontic family,” commented Twin Commander Aircraft President Allen Goad. “Ontic will bring a lot more scope—support, investing, and a realization of our vision on how to grow the Twin Commander community.” (See “From the Factory” story.) The acquisition by BBA Aviation is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close later this year.
