FROM THE FACTORY A Trusted Voice

I was a lead singer in a rock and roll band for many years and loved it. After the fourth straight day of my boring handwashing reminders at the office, I knew it was time to mix it up. Change a few lyrics from Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” and you have a great tale about washing hands and not touching each other. Thought to self: I need to add this to my job description.

Many things have changed in this this crazy new world we’re all living in, not the least of which is my public serenades. Rapid changes have become the norm, and everyone is looking for signs for what the future will bring and how to react. No doubt your business and personal lives have been impacted greatly.

In a crisis, reliable information is everything. Your cousin on Facebook may have an opinion or a theory on why it’s a good idea to buy a truck full of toilet paper, but you must consider the source. At a time like this it’s important to listen to the experts and take their advice.

Honestly this isn’t any different than what we usually do. Whether it’s business advice or personal needs, reliable information improves our decisions, keeps us safe, and gives us strength to move in the right direction. The only difference now is that the stakes are higher. It has made me think about owning and operating an aircraft and the many parallels.

Finding information about your airplane, including where to maintain it and who to turn to when you need help, is easy. But you must make sure that information is reliable. To me, this is the most important part of the relationship between Twin Commander Aircraft and its network of Factory Authorized Service Centers.

The flow of communication between the factory and these highly advanced, fully independent facilities is direct. When something is discovered in the field, be it a potential one-time issue, a recurring problem, or a creative solution, we in the factory hear about it directly. From there we can take that information and quickly disseminate it directly to the other Factory Authorized Service Centers. Sometimes the information is informal and collaborative in nature, and other times it comes in the form documentation (SI, SL, SB, or random data gathered to determine issues and fixes). The more you use a Factory Authorized Service Center, the more you are aiding in a potential solution. The data is recoverable and communicated to the factory.

Service bulletins are a great example of where the factory and Factory Authorized Service Centers stay in constant communication. Bulletins aren’t issued in a vacuum. There’s advance coordination with the network to ensure shops have the capability to handle the repair or inspection and their parts stores are stocked and ready to go for the demand. It’s a primary advantage of taking your aircraft to a Factory Authority Service Center. These shops are a reliable source of information and expertise. The information they have comes straight from the factory and becomes the knowledge necessary to maintain and support your Twin Commander at the highest levels.

As an owner and operator there are several ways to both aid and benefit from direct factory communication. Most importantly, take your beloved Twin Commander to a Factory Authorized Service Center. Second, if you haven’t done so already, ensure you are on file with an owner profile by emailing us at [email protected]. This will make sure you are in our system and receive the latest updates when a mandatory maintenance item is issued. Finally, sign up for Flight Levels on the Twin Commander website at: https://twincommander.com/flight-levels/

Our strength lies in our communication, and in these times when many of us are working remotely or are otherwise cut off from normal interactions, it can be helpful to know where to find the most reliable information. Even if someone is singing it to you.
