NEWS Maintenance Alert Issued for SB208 Inspection Area

Twin Commander Aircraft has issued a Maintenance Alert for additional visual inspection of the upper side of the lower wing skin when performing Service Bulletin 208. That SB applies when a fuel leak has been detected anywhere along the wing or when a fuel cell is replaced.

A report from the field noted corrosion aft of the lower front wing spar between the aircraft centerline and wing station 145. The corrosion was aft of the steel strap under the lower front spar cap underneath the wing cavity lining.

If moderate or severe skin corrosion is found, technicians are advised to replace the skin and notify Twin Commander Aircraft with the total time of the aircraft.

Impacted aircraft include various serial numbers of Twin Commander models 500U, 680FL, 680FLP, 680W, 500S, 681, 685, 690, 690A, and 690B models.
